How do I determine what size square I need?

First, choose the artwork you will reproduce. Decide if it will be horizontal or vertical. Try sketching it out on pavement. If you are just starting out, it’s best to start with a small square (2' x 3' or 3' x 5’). Artwork and square size are required when you register. Back to Top

How many people can be on a team? Teams may include up to 4 people. Squares are close together and it becomes difficult to do the artwork when there is little room to move about. We also have cost limitations on lunches, art supplies and prizes. Back to Top

How do I register if I am on a team? Each team member must fill out a separate registration form. Put the names of the other team members in the designated blanks. It also helps us keep track if you give your team a name (this is required). And it makes the competition fun! Please note: unregistered artists will not be allowed to chalk. Sorry. Back to Top

Who judges the artwork? Local business people who are sponsors of the festival, featured artists and members of the UFCF board are judges. Back to Top

What are the contest categories and prizes? TBD- Please check back soon for more information. If you are a registered artist, you will receive this information. Back to Top

If I’m a parent and I want to be an artist with my son or daughter...are we in the Adult Category or the Student Category? If an adult does ANY chalking, the team must be in the adult category. Adults may watch their students, but they may not help students “fill in” or do any other work on student artwork. Back to Top

How else can I help? You can get a sponsor for your chalk art square! Sponsors can be businesses who want to donate to a worthy cause or individuals who would like to honor someone they know. How about honoring Dad for Fathers’ Day with his own chalk art square? For other ideas, go to the Utah Foster Care Foundation website and Get Involved! Back to Top

How do I pay for registration?
Our secured registration form allows you to connect directly with PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account you can still use this feature to pay by credit, debit or check card. If you do have a PayPal account, you can pay by credit, debit or check card or by eCheck or PayPal balance! Please note: payment is required at the time of registration--we cannot process your registration without payment and cannot accept payment at a later time. Back to Top

Why don't those in the Student Artist category have to pay for registration?
Because our festival supports children, we feel it is best for children to participate for free. We go to great lengths to find corporate and business sponsors to pay for each and every Student Artist category registration. Back to Top

What is a featured artist? Featured artists are professional artists from all over the country who come to support the Chalk Art Festival by providing art murals. Back to Top

I’m interested in hosting a Chalk Art Festival. Do you have any tips? Chalk Art Festivals are a wonderful way to connect with your community and they are loads of fun. But they are also a lot of work! It's best to start by finding a fundraising pro to help you secure a location and presenting sponsors. Back to Top
